"YES
WE CAN!"
Four
years ago, we had a woman come in with a political sign from Illinois.
Her son had worked on the campaign trail of a young politician with a
funny name, and wanted the sign to be framed. When she picked it up, she
looked at the piece, then at me, and said, "This will be our next
president."
That
senator was Barak Obama, and that was the first but not the last time
we would encounter his name.
Now,
we at the Framemakers usually keep politics out of the workplace, but
this was a turning point. For the most part, we're a pretty liberal bunch,
although Meg keeps us in line sort of. ;) And many of our customers
had come in with similar opinions.
For
fun, Amy C.designed the Obama campaign logo in PathTrace, the program
that came with the Wizard computerised matcutter. It took about 10 minutes
to program and another ten to tweak. It was saved and awaited to be used.
Needless
to say, we've had some interesting stuff come in this month.

"We Shall
Overcome"
A
regular customer of ours had found beadwork her father had done
during the sixties and early seventies. She was originally going
to just frame them, until we thought of adding a few things from
the local Democratic headquarters. A bumper sticker and a flyer
added to the design, and our custom Obama logo was placed in the
corner. It was a big hit with the customer and her office.
She
also had three smaller bands framed separately.

Both
items were framed with acid-free mats and Conservation Clear glass.
